Copilot for Microsoft 365 and ChatGPT Enterprise keep your data out of training runs and off other customers' screens — through a data-processing agreement and a lot of careful policy. That's a real promise, backed by a contract. It still depends on the vendor's policy not changing, a breach never happening, and no one ever being compelled to hand it over.
Kep removes the question. There's no cloud path between your documents and anyone outside your firm — no third party holding your data who could be compelled to hand it over, nothing to misconfigure, nothing to change in a policy update six months from now.
Each Kep machine is dedicated to one client. There is no shared server, no shared model, no router that could ever mix one firm's documents with another's.
One machine, one monthly fee — it doesn't change as your headcount grows, unlike per-seat cloud AI subscriptions.
The assistant runs locally on your hardware. An office internet outage doesn't take your AI down with it.
Documents are read and indexed on the machine in your office. Kep never uploads, syncs, or backs up your data to us — we simply can't see it.

Every Kep runs the identical, physically isolated software stack. The only choice is which machine sits in your office — trade a lower monthly price for a bit more fan noise, or pay more for the quietest possible box.

Standard is a smaller-footprint AMD machine using the same unified-memory approach as Mac Studio, at a lower price — its cooling fans are audible when it's working hard, where Pro stays close to silent. We're finishing in-house testing on Standard before installing it at a client; Pro is what we'd deploy today. Final pricing is confirmed after we scope your firm either way. All prices exclude VAT.
We're starting with law firms and accountants — the highest willingness to pay, the lowest tolerance for a shared cloud. The same problem shows up anywhere client confidentiality is the whole business.
Kep starts with law firms — matter management, deadline extraction, clause libraries, conflict checks and Word/Excel integration — and expands to other regulated UK industries as demand proves out, not all at once.

We'll say the quiet part: today's local, open-source models are very capable but not the absolute best in the world. What Kep sells is control and privacy, not a marginally cleverer autocomplete.
You do — on purpose. Kep keeps everything in one encrypted database on the machine, which makes backup simple: we recommend a regular encrypted backup to a drive that stays with you, kept in a different place from the machine, and we'll help you configure it at installation. Running it stays in your hands. We never hold a copy — if we did, your client data would be sitting with a third party, which is exactly what Kep exists to avoid.
Small updates (licence, security fixes) arrive over a connection the machine opens itself, outbound only — nothing on the internet can connect in. New AI models come as a signed package that we install on-site; the machine checks the signature before applying it, and you decide when. Prefer no connection at all? A fully air-gapped installation is available, with on-site support.
Only a small health and licence check — whether the services are running, whether disk encryption is on, which version is installed. Never documents, questions or answers. On an air-gapped installation, not even that.
Good enough to be useful, and honest about its limits. In our own small test — one sample contract with 12 planted problems — the open model Kep runs found 11; the cloud model we compared it with found 10. That's one test on one document, not a benchmark, and we confirm quality on your machine before you rely on it.
So you can try Kep from any browser without us shipping you a machine. The demo contains only a fictional law firm — please don't type real client information. Your own Kep runs its AI entirely on the machine in your office.
Kep is new. We're placing our first machines with three founding firms who want direct input into how it develops and hands-on setup from us personally — not a call centre.
Timeline: installation typically takes 2–4 weeks from a signed agreement. We order your machine once you've signed, so it's configured for your firm from day one.
Indicative pricing: Pro from £399/month on a 24-month term, £750 installation. Standard (in testing) from £269/month. All prices exclude VAT. Final pricing is confirmed after we scope your firm.
